Announcing UKLUG 2007

If you’re involved in Notes or Domino or any other Lotus products and you’re based in the UK then run, don’t walk over to the just announced UK Lotus User Group meeting on 29th September this year. Although the agenda is yet to be finalised you can be sure that there will be some great speakers and a good mixture of people from all over the country with whom you can share your experiences and pick up tips and tricks.

Registration is open now, and my guess is that it would be wise to get in quick. And, of course the best thing is that attendance costs you nothing, it’s free, gratis, nada.

London meetup

The meetup last night went well with around 20 people turning up over the course of the evening. As ever it was good to catch up with old friends and meet some new people (for me at least) as well. There were a few photos taken, although not by me so I guess they’ll be seen up on Flickr if they aren’t too incriminating.

The Collab U conference is happening in London again in September so the plan is for another drinks night at the same time. Once we have dates and venue I’ll blog it as usual.

Don't Forget…

A few of us are meeting up for some beers this Thursday (the 19th) at All Bar One on New Oxford Street in London. I’ve created an Upcoming.org event (just because I’ve never used the site before and you have to try these things if you’re a geek) that has all of the details in. Hope to see you there. If you don’t know anyone in the community, please do feel free to come along and introduce yourself, I’ll be there from around 6pm and my mobile number is 07767 384970 if you’re having trouble finding us, although if you just look for the loud geeks then you’ll probably have the right group. See you there.

Domino Community Meet Up

I mentioned a couple of weeks ago that a few of us London based Domino bods will be meeting up for a beer on Thursday 19th July. Well the date coincides with the first London installment of Collaboration University over near the British Museum, so we’ve picked a venue of the All Bar One on New Oxford Street (map). I’ll be turning up around 6-ish so if you work in London or are just here for the conference then please do feel free to come along.

Taking Notes Episode 62

If you’ve never listened to the Taking Notes podcast Bruce and Julian have been on a break recently but episode 62 has just been released and it’s an especially good one to get into the habit of listening. If you’re involved in Notes and Domino in any way then it’s a superb way of picking up whats going on in the Domino community at large and also what’s coming down the line in future releases. Listen up!

Date for your diary

A few of us are meeting for a couple of beers on 19th July, venue to be decided, but probably somewhere around the British Museum in London. If you’d like to come along please feel free. I’ll publish the venue when it’s been decided.

The journey home

I headed over the the Prudential tower last night to meet up with the hardy few who were having dinner after The View conference. In the end I rocked back to the hotel at about 2:30am and am wondering how bad I’ll feel for the flight tonight, lots of water to be consumed today. When I left the others they were heading up to Bill’s suite for more drinks as the hotel bar had closed. I wouldn’t like to think about what state those hardy few who stayed until the end will be in today.

Anyway, there’ll be several photos floating around Flickr to incriminate and amuse shortly no doubt.

Now I need more water.

Update: I bumped into Paul at the airport and it sounds like I got out at the right time. Everyone was suffering this morning. He’s posted a few photos on Flickr.

Taking Notes Episode 59

After I got home last night I joined a whole gang of people in a discussion about Javascript frameworks for the most recent episode of the Taking Notes Podcast, specifically the really good looking YUI EXT project for Domino. You can download the podcast here. Setting aside my meager contributions it’s well worth an hour of your time to find out about this exciting area of community development.

A good night

It was a pretty good turnout of people at the Market Porter in London last night. A mixture of familiar faces from Lotusphere’s past and new people (for some) from previous and current work engagements. Everyone had a few beers (obviously) and there was a lot of good talk about setting up a UK User Group gathering. I think we all agreed that there is definitely a desire for something to happen. It’s just a matter of setting it up now!

Anyway, that’s something for future postings. In the meantime, it’s just a big thankyou to the people who came along. Hopefully at the next gathering it will grow in size again.

Reminder for this Thursday

There’s a group of Notes and Domino people meeting up in London this Thursday evening at the Market Porter near London Bridge. If you’re in town please do come along, we can discuss the Beta 2 release, or just have a few pints whichever seems right at the time!

If you want to get in contact, my mobile is 07767 384970 or you can email me
