Understanding AI: Beyond the Hype

I am pleased to share that I will be a panelist at “Understanding AI: Beyond the Hype”, a series of events hosted by FDM and Northeastern University London. The idea is to cut through the noise and explore what AI really means in practice.

The series looks at ethics, generative AI, prompt fluency, and the challenges of deepfakes and misinformation. Each session is designed to bring real insight rather than just headlines, and they are open both in person at FDM’s London centre and online.

For me this is a chance to bring a perspective from “supply chain and logistics “the real world” where AI is already changing how we work. The tools we use and the tools we use to build them are all being reshaped very rapidly. At the same time the risks are clear: bias creeping into models, transparency gaps, reputational exposure, and the need for people to understand the limits as well as the possibilities of these systems.

I plan to share examples of what has worked and what has not, and to explore how leaders can separate hype from genuine business value. I am also looking forward to learning from other industries and hearing how others are building fluency and resilience in their teams.

If you are interested in how AI can be used responsibly and effectively, I would encourage you to take a look at the series. I would be very happy to connect with anyone planning to attend so we can compare notes and continue the conversation afterwards.
