After about of
Prey by Michael Crichton is sub-standard airport fodder. The writing was terrible. You increasingly get the impression from his books that they are less a novel and more a set of ideas for a movie or TV show. I suppose I only encourage him by buying the books so I must stop that.
In contrast DaveGorman’s Googlewhack Adventure is great. He was trying for a novel but ended up with another classic non-fiction comedy. The only problem with his books is that I embarrass myself on the train by laughing too much. However, compared to his eccentricities I don’t have too much to worry about.
? binocular reading??
Matthew, have also been reading Dave Gorman and nearly finished – absolutely racing through it. Spent an hour and a half embarrasing myself on Tuesday by reading it in Starbucks and chuckling continuously!
I thought I might suggest a birthday present idea maybe to those in the family struggling to know what to get me. I really enjoy Maeve Binchy books and the one I like the look of at the moment is called “Irish Girls about Town” written by various writers including Maeve Binchey, Marian Keyes, Cathy Kelly & Colette Caddle etc, Maybe this would be a presie idea for Si & Fi if not already decided.
