Late Birthday Celebration

One of my birthday presents this year was a carving lesson at Simpsons. One of the few places in the world which is a true celebrator of the British roast dinner. The course itself was a couple of hours of stories, instruction, tips and tricks about how to carve a joint of meat with maximum skill and fairness for all the people at the dinner table. Interspersed with the history of Simpsons it was a really interesting session. The downside was that afterwards we had to go and demonstrate our new found skills in the dining room in front of each of our parties. I suppose there were 40 or so people on the course so the lunch service was still going strong as we left at 3:30.

Luckily there was plenty of wine to help pass the time (even though we were one of the first tables to be served) and the food itself was superb as ever if a little hacked up by my inexpert ministrations.

Then, well oiled, it was back home on the train. Back to earth with a bump as we were delayed by just under an hour, oh how I look forward to getting back to work tomorrow.
